HIT APPLICATION SPECIALIST

HIT Application Specialist reports directly to the IT Supervisor, and is responsible for the health information application support in the HIT department involving electronic health records application, practice management systems, and other population management software. The HIT Application Specialist core responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing application support to end users, developing and running data reports, supporting EHR optimization projects, managing the HIT Help Desk (calls and ticketing system), create new user accounts and profiles, and providing support to the Health Information Team in training and project implementation.  In addition, assignments may be directed toward accomplishing either specific programs or broad objectives set by Livingston Community Health overall need. 

Essential Functions:

Support Desk

  1. Develop expert knowledge of the Clinical Systems software (EHR, EDR, PM, and i2i.)
     

  2. Main point of contact for End Users for “issues” and works with staff to resolve issues and answer questions as needed.
     

  3. Manage HIT Help Desk – (Calls and Ticketing System)

    1. First responder to database application support calls and helpdesk tickets.​

    2. Works closely with Clinical System Manager to escalate issues as needed.
       

  4. Create new user accounts and profiles for all clinical systems software

Quality Improvement

  1. Runs outcome/compliance reports and distributes as scheduled.
     

  2. Assist in the development of reports for departments, grants, etc.
     

  3. Assist with project coordination and implementation

Training

  1. Develop expert knowledge of the Clinical Systems workflows (EHR, EDR, PM, and i2i) and support the development of training curriculum
     

  2. Lead all training for new staff and Providers.
     

  3. Assist in software development and upgrades.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associates degree in related field.  Bachelor degree preferred.
     

  2. Experience teaching and/or training preferred
     

  3. Typing: 45 wpm.
     

  4. Understanding of personal computer and software applications.
     

  5. Understanding of general database concepts and design.
     

  6. Experience in technical curriculum development.
     

  7. Experience in classroom and one-on-one trainings.
     

  8. Experience with Nextgen strongly preferred.
     

  9. Understanding of adult learning behavior.
     

  10. Experience in project management concepts.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Work Environment:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

​This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely communicates verbally and on a face to face basis with others.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires standing and walking for up to eight hours at a time. Some bending, stretching, or reaching may be necessary. Lifting up to 40 pounds maybe required on occasion. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contact.
